The recent ruling made by the Kuala Lumpur High Court Judge Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah that allowed the application of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s list of 15 witnesses in the Sodomy II trial is something which would bring about quite a lot of anticipation. Did Palanivel practiced cronysm by soliciting RM5m for private company?
An MIC branch chairman recently made some startling claims when he accused the party’s president Datuk G Palanivel for soliciting RM5 million from the government as funding for some community development programmes to be aired on Astro’s Vanavil channel, the Tamil language channel operated by the country’s only satellite TV company. It was alleged that Palanivel had signed a letter under the MIC letterhead to the Prime Minister’s Office on behalf of Vanakkam Malaysia Dotcom Sdn Bhd for RM5 million for the 2 programmes entitled ‘Paarvai’ and ‘Malarchi’ which means ‘Outlook’ and ‘Development’ respectively.
